Catalysts for Recovery is a training program built on two insights of former first-lady, Rosalynn Carter – “For me, the emergence of recovery as the goal and expectation for people with serious mental illness represents the single biggest improvement of the last 30 years…  One of the biggest catalysts for empowering people into recovery is the support of Certified Peer Specialists.”

Objective/Outcomes

  • At the end of the training, participants will be able to explain –
  • what is meant by the shift from stabilization and maintenance to recovery and resilience;
  • the impact this shift has had on the delivery of services;
  • the role of peer support specialists and peer support services;
  • the peer support specialist’s job description, hiring guidelines, etc. for their state;
  • the challenges posed by hiring peer support specialists; and
